Health and Dental
Providence College offers full-time employees the choice of either individual or family plan health coverage through the United Healthcare Choice Plus. Dental coverage is offered through Delta Dental of Rhode Island.
Health Costs
The employee and the College share the cost of both medical and dental coverage.
Employee contributions are made through a payroll deduction, either before-tax (through the Section 125 Plan) or after-tax.
Enrollment
An employee may choose to enroll, re-elect or waive medical and/or dental coverage only during the annual open enrollment period that occurs toward the end of each Plan Year. The addition of eligible dependents and/or new family members is permitted provided the Human Resources Department is notified of the change within a 30-day period.
Buyout Option
An eligible employee who elects to waive coverage under the College’s medical and/or dental group insurance plans receives a buyout refund of $1400 and/or $165 respectively for each year that participation is waived (requires proof of other insurance). The buyout amount(s) are processed through the payroll system and are subject to Federal and State withholding taxes.
